Help & resources — Trust & verification

Why we verify providers

You're letting someone into your home, or trusting them with a job. That only works if "available now" also means "actually who they say they are."

Providers go through a real check

Anyone offering a service on VisitGrid — plumbers, electricians, cleaners, tutors, and everyone else — goes through identity verification before their profile can go live. That's a real check: government ID, address, a phone number confirmed by OTP, all cross-referenced, not just a form they filled in.

You, as a consumer, don't need to do that

Browsing VisitGrid — seeing who's free right now, checking a profile — never requires an account at all. When you do sign in to message, book, or pay, that's a much lighter step: confirming your phone or email, plus whatever your card issuer checks when you pay. That's intentionally not the same depth of check a provider goes through — VisitGrid works because finding help is fast, and that speed is for you, the person looking, not the person you're hiring.

Why the asymmetry makes sense

A provider is the one showing up at your door, or handling something in your home. That's real trust, placed in one direction, and it's what the verification is actually protecting. Asking you to upload a government ID just to see who's on a map would defeat the entire point of an availability-first app — so we don't.
